On Joining the Association of Welcoming & Affirming Baptists (AWAB)
endorsed by consensus on February 27, 2005

After the practice of our Lord Jesus Christ, who welcomed those who have been marginalized, Peace Community Church of Oberlin, Ohio, seeks to stand with our LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters and affiliate with the Association of Welcoming & Affirming Baptists. 

 

In these tumultuous and chaotic times, we commit ourselves to a journey of discipleship that seeks to malign no one; that seeks to respond to hatred with love; and that seeks to practice mercy, compassion, and respect among those with whom we disagree. 

 

As members of Peace Community Church, we further challenge ourselves to continue to live ‘into’ and ‘up to’ the name we bear by looking for means of reconciliation wherever they can be found, by exploring opportunities for dialogue wherever they present themselves, and by praying continually for all people caught in the crossfire of these issues.
